statutes of The Davidic Order
The statutes of the Davidic Order are derived from and inspired by the Third Order Rule of St. Francis for the Laity written in 1221 by Cardinal Hugolino dei Conti dei Segni at the request of St. Francis.
​
1. To join the Order of David, one must be a Catholic man in good standing who has consecrated his life to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
​
2. He must commit to observing the virtue of modesty according to Christian dignity in dress, word, and deed. He must be chaste and free from sexual vice.
​
3. He must rid his life of secular practices and entertainment that are offensive to God (profane, blasphemous, sexual, etc., content in films; sensationalized secular news; clubs, dances, gambling, etc.).
​
4. He must strive, as much as reasonably possible, to attend the most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass daily, go to Holy Confession weekly, and spend a Holy Hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament weekly.

5. He must commit to praying the Divine Office and/or the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary every day.
​
6. He must commit to praying at least five decades of the Holy Rosary, as well as 30 minutes of silent meditative prayer, every day.
​
7. He must fast and abstain from meat every Friday, taking only one meal. During Advent and Lent, maintain a perpetual fast of one meal and abstain from meat during lent.
​
8. He must tithe to his parish church, and seek out opportunities to serve the poor, especially in fraternity with other men of the order.
​
9. He must commit to a monthly fraternal gathering, and an annual 3-day retreat in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Additionally, men must strive to live the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience according to their state in life.
